I made mushroom soup by accident! I was going to make sauteed shrooms and onions but I added some bread crumbs(fine) and spices (cumin, cinnamon, cayenne, salt and pepper). Of course the crumbs were sticking so I added water and then I added too much water. So I was boiling it down and when it got to about a bowl full I realized it was a broth with mushrooms and onions. Soup. Huh. Pretty good too.

adventures in food:
Crispy Kale from jacques pepin 250F 20-25 min
Apple Maple Topping - jacques pepin- forgot to peel the apple. mom drank the apple juice I was going to use- substituted a bit of mango juice some water and a few drips of lemon juice.
Decided I try making a bread pudding-ish thing --> stale bagget pour milk over, microwave- add topping w/ a bit of the topping liquid microwave- half passable bread pudding type thing- not perfect and I would microwave the bread longer (than 45 seconds followed by about 10) and I might use heavy cream or whole milk instead of whatever was lying around. and I might add some sugar before the topping - but other than that it was a pretty good bit of panicked cooking.

Creepy horror movie dream:
Ok, so the premise is that there is an infection of evil which turns normal people into demons who spread this by biting others and causing others to turn into demons. The special effect involved is that the bite becomes liquidy and black and white which also shows up on the mouth of the biter. The biter is naturally distorted a bit too.
So eventually the government trapped this evil in a high school - of course. Which was subsequently isolated and surrounded by a force field.
So someone important to another was trapped inside after the fact. The other convinced someone to let her in to spring her friend. There must have been a good reason because she was allowed to go in. There is an adventure and this idea that it's just a high school is broken because there is a mall of some sort. who knows how they are earning money. anyway an adventure ensues and lots of chasing and fighting and killing still the dubious hero prevails and gets her friend. After a while and some more chasing and killing the two of them are sprung. Hero is congratulated. Friend bites hero, evil is rereleased on the world and takes over. Oops.

I'm going to state college for new years. the weekend- early friday morning to sunday. Going to see my dad's place for at least the first time in a year if not longer. Probably longer. Apparently there's a chocolate shop that dips a lot of it's own stuff. I'm semi interested in another black&white milkshake. Or a pepper crusted burger even though it wasn't as amazing as it should have been the first time. So here's to Marshmallows and a fireplace and whatever else you do in state college for new years.

I made dough this morning to rise all day and make maybe dinner and one or two survival pockets. Or maybe one lunch sized thing and a couple snackier bits. I wonder if I should put a meat in there- or maybe a vegetable meat. I think I'm going to reroast some of the fennel with carrots and fennel seeds. Funfunfun. Maybe I'll check this today (not logged in) so that people can give me ideas.

I'm getting away with light cooking duties. Made a dip except I complicated things by toasting the walnuts first. So that took all of 15 minutes or something. oh yes and I drained the beans- duh.
I will roast brussels sprouts and fennel later, so that's just chopping and coating with oil salt and pepper. My dad is making stuffed onions, he made chestnut soup yesterday. My mom is making apple pie and biscuits. I think there might be a dish with celeriac. Oh maybe potatoes and celeriac mashed together.
So yeah easy cooking for me.

Oh and my mom is using a manual doohickey which peels, chops and cores the apples by turning a crank. It's all done in less than a minute. Significantly less. It chops in a spiral so there is one cut in half to create multiple pieces, but given the chopping, peeling and coring is done all at once that's pretty easy.

Oops, I walked my heels raw and bloody. Yay healthy walking.
I am avoiding using personal online things at work, half because it's work and half because it's not on my own log in.

Happy Bloody heel time!
